E-Commerce trailblazer Amazon is quite busy as of late and their latest exploit is their revamping of their flagship, the Kindle Fire.
Amazon is practically making us choose between going top tiers of the
tablet echelon. It’s not that they’re here to dominate, but the retail
giant is giving us a choice on what to buy, and that’s what the HDX 8.9
was designed to prove: it’s lighter, faster and better.
On the inside, the HDX 8.9
is, according to Amazon, the first tablet equipped with a Qualcomm
Snapdragon 805 chip. That’s a quad-core CPU running at 2.5GHz that will
let off some 70% more graphics. It can go up to 12 hours, too and comes
with a Dolby Atmos surround sound. Imagine what it could bring to our movie viewing pleasure should we decide to wrap our hands on it.
More or less, the HDX is pretty much akin to Samsung’s first line of
Galaxy Tabs, but we’re not complaining about it. For the most of us, a
sub 9incher is probably the best size for a slab. Amazon also included a
novel Dynamic Light Control that tweaks the white balance when a user
is in reading mode. The company’s own Fire OS 4.0 will also be at the helm alongside its “Sangria” build that will provide unlimited photo storage,
six user profiles and access to Family Library to shop for more apps,
games, e-books and videos. The new HDX also comes with WPS Office for
you to get it going on your documents and presentations.
The Amazon HDX 8.9 is up for pre-order at $379, while the 7inch HDX
is discounted to $199. A keyboard is likewise up for grabs at $60 and of
course, the Origami case if you want to house your tablet.
