Gigabyte Launches Own Affordable Android Smartphones

While we are accustomed to Gigabyte and their computer hardware products, a new vision came into play as of late as the company revealed their first line of smartphones.

Arguably, the trend of non-mobile names jumping in the smartphone bandwagon would soon be a cult classic. One fact is that it stretches our options, firming the competition and some would prove to be dark horses when everything goes down the line. Can Gigabyte do by leaps and bounds from here on out? They have all the potential to do so, and they are pulling out their best arsenal.

First is the Roma R2 Plus – a 120 gram, 4inch smartphone with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor underneath alongside a standard 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage (expandable up to 32GB). The entry-level device will also use Android 4.4 KitKat a 5megapixel with LED flash at the back and a VGA clicker in front. A 1,400mAh battery will juice the Roma R2 Plus.

Next stop is the GSmart Arty A3. The mid-tier phablet measures a decent 5inches and cores on a MediaTek MT6582 SoC with a 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 processor, 1GB RAM and 4GB onboard storage. Just like the Roma R2 Plus, the GSMart Arty A3 will also include Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat as its Operating System, an 8-megapixel snapper with LED flash capable of recording 1080p videos, a 2megapixel front facing clicker and a 2,000mAh battery.
Next is the GSMart Mika M2. It will also come in at 5inches but does include 720p resolution and a MediaTek MT6582 chip. At the back sits a 13megapixel camera (1080p recording) that is complemented by a 5megapixel front snapper for quality selfies. It will retain the Arty A3’s 2,000mAh battery and a perked 8GB internal memory.

And last but certainly not the least is the clean looking White Edition of the GSmart Guru. The 5-inch smartphone with incorporate a 1080 IPS display screen and a MediaTek MT6589T chip with a 1.5GHz Cortex-A7 quad-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, a roomy 32GB of onboard storage, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean (upgradable to KitKat), 13megapixel camera and a decent 3,000mAh battery.

Price wise, the Roma R2 Plus will sell for $130 (RUB 4,990), the GSmart Arty A3 at $150 (RUB 5,790). The GSmart Mika M2 will come with a sticker price of $182 (RUB 6,990) and Guru is pegged at $259 (RUB 9,990).

Gigabyte has it that all smartphones will be available in Russia and select parts of Europe “soon”. Tell us which model you like in the comments.
