Amazon Kindle Voyage e-Reader Goes On Sale For $200

Maybe Amazon saw fit that the Fire didn’t exactly blow our imagination when they decided to leap in the smartphone market. Or maybe, the e-commerce firm just wants to shake Kobo’s foundation as the prime choice of e-readers. Whatever the reason may be, Amazon is once again on their comfort zone with the new Kindle Voyage e-book reader.

The Voyage is our typical e-reader: rectangular, blocky but with a signature Amazon feel that makes it premium and friendly to the palm. The device is built with a matte magnesium and a chemically hardened glass that shields the Voyage to any unwanted bumps and other nuisance interaction. The layer also eliminates glare and as such, eliminates eye stress when a user decides to go overtime reading their favorite novels.

A Paperwhite tradition still cores the Voyage. The 6inch reader packs in 300 ppi while the backlight is subtle enough for texts to be outright readable. It also worth noting that Amazon’s new e-reader is lightweight and is a mere 0.1mm thicker than Apple’s iPad Air at 7.6mm.
Amazon also used a feature called PagePress, or something that reminisce the page-turn of previous devices.

It lets the user turn to the next page without touching the screen. They can still do the traditional swipe, but hovering gestures are just too cool nowadays.

Then there’s the X-Ray that haggles an image browser mode and notable passages a la CliffNotes. Also, WordWise shows the definitions of some words on the same page so that you don’t have to grab your dictionary and look for the meaning.

The Amazon Voyage and Kindle’s new Aura e-book will start shipping in October. Both are also currently available via their respective websites but if you’re missing Amazon, the Voyage can be yours for $200.
