My Techies' World.: Samsung Curved Gear S Smartwatch

With rumors of Apple announcing the much buzzed about iWatch on September 9th (along with the iPhone 6), the smartwatch race has been kicked into high gear. Samsung is looking to be the first to get significant market share as they introduce yet another smartwatch. Meet the Samsung Curved Gear S.

The watch is sporting a 2-inch curved AMOLED display, and is packed with 3G technology alongside Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity to pair with all of your favorite mobile devices. The watch does what all smartwatches have done thus far – everything you can do from your phone (well, not quite everything). You can answer calls, use the built-in GPS and applications like Nike+ Running among other things. Samsung is also betting on health and fitness for the smartwatch sector, equipping this piece with their robust S Health features. Which makes this wearable a capable fitness tracker as well. Samsung plans on releasing the new Gear S this coming October, but the retail price point has yet to be revealed.
